6:25PM - The Buzz about Bugs

Thanks to everyone who replied to my last post with best wishes and sympathy. It was not my day for bug encounters. I had another dangerous encounter on the way home....but this one was really funny once over.

So I was driving home from work yesterday with the windows open (my AC doesn't work). About a mile from work down a little back road, I saw something small hit my rear view mirror on the drivers side of my vehicle and and fall between my legs. I look down and there is a slightly stunned yellow jacket (or hornet or something of that sort) flailing on its back between my legs. I shift to give it room to fly off, but I guess it was too stunned because it fell under my legs and my tush. At this point I raise my rear off the seat (which has me driving with only my shoulders on the drivers seat) while I try to find a place to pull over and shoo the stingy bug out of my SUV. I finally find a church front I can pull into. I pull in sideways, completely blocking the entrance, and it takes me three tries to get all the way off the road. I am really scared at this point because there is a angry sharp conscious bug somewhere between me and my seat and I can't see it. Once I get the car off the road I quickly open the door and step out of the car.....just in time to realize, in my haste, that I didn't put my car in park. I am now one foot in and one foot out of a moving SUV trying to avoid being pulled off balance onto the bug, trying to put the car in park.

I finally got the car in park and carefully swept the bug out of the car and drove home.

Sometimes I wish I had a camera crew following me around to catch moments like this. I could send it into American's Funniest Home Videos.

I prefer it to the spider though. :)

4:10PM - The itsy bitsy spider....

So, once again, I am trying to start regularly updating my lj. I figured I'd start with the odd...and icky thing that happened today.

So I don't like most bugs.....once I take a really close look at them they cease to be cute and start to look creepy. Besides, even lady bugs bite me. But worst of all are spiders. I am arachnophobia...I hate spiders with a passion.

Why is it it then that of all the people in the world, I'd have to be the one bitten by the spider who found it's way into my bra. I am glad I was the only one in the office because it must have made a funny picture me lifting up and shaking out my shirt and screaming insanely.

That is all.

11:47AM - Short Update

I'm outta Surgery. It was scary, the Nitrous Oxide didn't work and they had trouble getting one of the bottom wisdom teeth out. They seemed mad at me that the laughing gas wasn't working and that it hurt when they were working on me. Oh well, it's over now. Now I just need to recover. It hurts A LOT and my face is swollen. I sleep a lot because the drugs do that to you. If I try to get up and be active I get nauseous. I haven't eaten yet due to pain and swelling, but will try soon. Thanks for all your well wishes. I am gonna go pass out now.

7:01PM - yay for the weekend!

So, it was a very good but very tiring weekend. I was so happy to play the dance at KG and actually have dancers, and get to play the music while they danced (instead of teaching/calling while they danced). The game was fun too. I hadn't played KG in a while (since April) and I forgot how much I really enjoy it. Plot rocked, MT rocked, Tavern rocked, and the players (new and old) really rocked out too. I can't wait for the next game. I think this was one of the best ever. Sorry I never got post mortem on Dragoncon or Piratepalooza out. Dragoncon was fun. I really enjoy techops, as of right now it looks like I will be night managing for Morning Bob next year. Piratepalooza was fun. You can find pictures if you search for it on www.flickr.com.

I had to by a new phone today. My old one went the way of the dodo. It was really sucky how it happened. But between my completely awesome boyfriend and my wonderful roommate, I made it through the stress of spending money I didn't have on a phone I didn't like.

I go in for my oral surgery this Thursday at 8 a.m. Please keep me in your prayers and positive thoughts. I know everything will be cool but I am still nervous. Four wisdom teeth, two broken molars anda baby tooth is a lot of work to have done all at once. I'll let everyone know how it turns out when I get out.

Gotta run to improv. We are getting ready for two shows in november. Woot!

TTFN!

5:36PM - D*Con is alomst here........

Every year I promise myself that I will do less and enjoy the con more and every year I end up doing more. This year I have moved from Info Services to TechOps. I am also in 3 shows (as follows) during the con:
~Friday Night- The Adventures of Brave Ragnar (radio theatre with ARTC)
~Sunday night- The Monty Python Experience ( a Monty Python inspired improv show with my troupe Mr.Friskett)
~Monday afternoon- Creation is a Circle (s show following the evolution of the Science Fiction writer starting in the 30's and ending present day with MRAP. It isn't as slapstick funny as past MRAP shows but it is very intellectually funny)

Anyhow, I wish I were more prepared. I haven't decided on any costumes yet and don't really have time to make any from scratch on such short notice, but I have huge amounts of old ones. I cannot decide what I should go as.I can probably pull together something simple ifI don't already have it. ANy ideas? Opinions? Bueller?

Ok. At least I cna *try* to get my room done before then.

7:57PM - Long and long overdue post

So today was a polished agate in the immense sea of gravel that is my work. The kids were remarkably well behaved, my non potty trained student stayed dry most of the day (though I did have to bring him to the bathroom every 15 minutes) and when my director had to make my job very difficult this afternoon to meet ratios, she brought me a coke and a snack for my troubles. Things are not great and I still need to make more money and benifits but it is nice to know that I am appreciated. She also greeted me with "Hey Ariel, I made coffee! I wish I had a doughnut to give you". It was nice.

I will be working Dragoncon this year. New faction though. I am now working as a part of Tech-ops in the Hilton. Trying to figure out if I wantto do costumes or not and if so what.

I now have most of the money saved up for the down payment of my oral surgery. It's only a third of the cost, but it's something. The surgey is scheduled for the 5th of October, but I am hoping to find a dentists office with a comprable price that can do it sooner.

I am still looking for a new job. Something that pays at least a little more than I am making now with benefits. Preferrably something along the lines of a receptionist or admin. assistant. After my last interview (of which the interview itself went very well, but where I didn't do well enough on the Excel test) I am also working on learning all there is to know about Excel and Access and quickly too. Hopefully the perfect job will come along soon. I am sad my last interview didn't work out. It seemed so perfect.

TenPenny is playing the Summer Shade Concert at Grant Park on August 25th. I will confirm date and give a time once I find the email.

Lastly, I am goiong Contra dancing tomorrow. I am so excited. I have been too busy to do any dancing and my physique is suffering. I have lost some weight but still need to lose much more.

Now if onoly the cleaning fairy would come visit my apartment....oh well...if wishes were horses and all that jazz.

Due to the request of one or two individuals I will endeavor to post more often. Kick me if I don't.

Hugs!

Blarg. Job hunt is going slow. I am trying to remember that I will find the right job when it's time......I just wish the time was right now.

I .....*might*.......go to KG this weekend. Someone has offered to pay. Now, if the offer is even still good, I have to decide whether I can allow a friend to waste that much money on me or not.  We'll see.

Time to go to rehearsal. I really haven't needed to be at any til now. I HAVE been to some, it just wasn't really neccessary.

I'm out
